In tribute to its great founder, Csar Ritz, the Ritz named a suite in his honour, overlooking the Place Vendme which he chose as the location for his dream of an "ideal hotel". The very incarnation of the "Ritz style", a tasteful arrangement of objets d'art and Louis XV and Directoire furniture epitomises the elegance and luxury of one of the finest residences in Paris. The decoration of the bedrooms is romantic; subtle harmonies of green and pale yellow with a canopied bed in one room, and silky floral patterns in the second. From the sitting room with its doors edged in gold leaf, the portrait of Csar Ritz appears to watch eternally over the well-being of his guests, to whom his dearest wish was to offer "all the refinements that a prince could wish for in his own residence".
